Final Reflective Letter
Dear Marlen,
It’s that time of the year again. Things are starting to wind down and papers are getting their finishing touches. This semester has been a memorable one. Once again you worked us to the bone, but I know all the hard work will benefit us. At first I was very unsure about what I had to accomplish this semester. I was not sure how I was to pick a topic and write a full research paper on my own and conduct my own research. As the weeks passed I became more confident in myself and my writing capabilities. I learned to take baby steps and focus on one thing at a time. Before I knew it my paper was complete.
Once my paper was complete I felt this weight lifted off my shoulders. I couldn’t believe that I had finished. I could not have finished my paper without you helping me out every step of the way. I know you are big on telling us to look something up instead of you explaining it to us when we don’t understand something. There were times when that really made me frustrated and I just wanted to say “why can’t you just show us,” but now I understand. Looking back I now realize that it was actually helping us in the long run because by doing the research ourselves and answering our question we will be instilled with that information for a life time.
This semester flew by my paper is done and I feel that I have grown as a writers. I loved this class and mostly everything that we have done in it. I like how you don’t just look at us like were just another class sitting in front of you. You take the time to get to know us and talk to us. I can tell that you genuinely care about your students and that you love teaching. There is nothing worse than walking into a class room and having a teacher does not care about their students.
Thank you for another fun, interesting, full of new experience and challenging semester. It has truly made me grow as a writer. Good luck next year!
Sincerely,
Heather Caldwell
