Article One: Literature Review
– Allows the writer to summarize what the article said.
– Let’s you avoid unnecessary duplication.
- Evaluate promising research methods.
- Relates your finding to previous knowledge and suggest further research.
- Shows how your study relates to the literature.
- Shows how your study relates to previous studies.
Article Two: How To Do A Literature Review
- To see what has not been investigated.
- To develop general explanation for observed variations in a behavior or phenomenon.
- To identify potential relationships between concepts and to identify researchable hypotheses.
- To learn how others have defined and measured key concepts.
- To identify data sources that other researchers have used.
- To develop alternative research projects.
- To discover how a research project is related to the work of others.
The most important thing that I have learned about literature reviews is that the purpose is to show that “the writer has studied existing work in the field of insight,” (University Library). It is very important when writing a research paper to do the background work and research about your topic. You want the readers to know that as a writer you have done your research and know what you are talking about. That you are not feeding them false information about the topic.
